Analysis reveals that contact resistance decreases with current in sodium-stainless steel pairs, suggesting improved self-repairing fuse performance.
It was found that there is insufficient information in the literature regarding studies of transient resistances between al-kali metals (sodium) and stainless steels. Determination of the dependence of contact resistance on current between sodium and stainless steel. A stand has been assembled to determine the contact resistance. Full-scale tests were carried out with a physical model. It has been established that the contact resistance decreases with increasing current under the influence of fretting corrosion. It is proposed to load a liquid metal self- repairing fuse with a current of up to 110 A, which will reduce the value of the transition resistance. The possibility of using a sodium-stainless steel pair in the design of liquid metal self-restoring fuses has been experimentally confirmed.
