Analysis reveals Xie Ruijie's 'Setting Sail at Shenmen' expresses self-identity and national spirit through innovative art.
Since the 1950s, Xie Ruijie has created a large number of fine art works themed around the Yellow River water conservancy construction, which reflect the spirit of the times and the achievements in water conservancy and have a certain representativeness. Among them, Xie Ruijie's "Setting Sail at Shenmen," created in 1955, is set against the background of the Sanmenxia Water Conservancy Hub Project. It breaks the traditional landscape painting paradigm and innovates in the composition program. At the same time, it reflects Xie Ruijie's "self-identity" participation in the expression of individual emotions. Through the artistic translation of the Yellow River landscape, it completes the artistic interpretation of the national spirit in the ink and completes the visual epic of the national spirit, allowing the audience to intuitively feel these spiritual connotations and power.
