Analysis reveals coping strategies influence anxiety disorders in women, indicating the need for tailored psychological support.
The article examines the individual psychological characteristics and coping strategies of women with anxiety disorders in dental practice. The psycho-emotional state of 236 women in the period 2023–2025 was studied using the methodological tool "Questionnaire R. Kettell 16-FO-105,“ E. Heim's ”Methodology for Assessing the Psychological Diagnosis of Coping Mechanisms,“ and R. Plutchik-H. Kellermann's ”Lifestyle Index." After initial data processing, 200 individuals were included in the study, among whom a comparative analysis of the results was conducted. The subjects were divided as follows: experimental group (EG), N=150, and control group (CG), N=50. According to the results of the study, predictors of the development of anxiety in women in the EG and CG were grouped into blocks as personality traits in three areas: communicative, emotional-volitional, and intellectual factors, which differed in characteristics. It was found that women in the EG showed the greatest number of deviations from the average indicators (sthenic) of personality factors that cause the development of anxiety (p≤0.001). Women often used a sthenic type of response, which was confirmed by the presence of a hypersthenic personality profile with a feeling of loneliness. The dominant personality traits in women with DG are defined by factors such as: uncompromisingness (A), difficulty in generalizing (B), impulsiveness, and pessimism (F). These women also exhibited factors such as impatience with postponing difficult decisions (C) and spontaneity with self-doubt (N). Women in a state of anxiety were characterized by factors such as unreliability (G) and shyness and indecisiveness (H). Women were also characterized by dependence on others, hypochondria, timidity (I), and conflict (M). It was found that women in the study groups exhibited various psychological defense mechanisms, which they used in the context of traumatic war events. Women in the DG group, as a result of excessive adaptation, are characterized by tension in their psychological defense mechanisms, which manifests itself in anxiety and indicates the impact of war trauma (p≤0.001). Women were found to have insufficient awareness and exclusion of war trauma from their consciousness, which causes psycho-emotional tension when they recognize it using the mechanisms of “denial” and “regression” (p≤0.001). Prospects for further research in this area lie in the scientific study of the characteristics of the severity of clinical and psychopathological phenomena of anxiety states in women who are clients of dental clinics.
