Analysis shows that enhanced magnetic materials and modulation reduce power losses in generators, indicating greater efficiency potential.
This article describes methods for reducing additional losses of a high-speed generator caused by pulsation of the mag-netic field in the air gap and the amplitude of higher harmonics in the voltage and currents of the generator winding. The article deals with increasing the efficiency of high-speed generator equipment for the energy complex based on micro-turbine. The calculation of the additional losses value in a high-side electric generator was carried out taking into ac-count its load and power supply from a frequency converter. To reduce additional losses of an asynchronous high-speed generator caused by uneven distribution of magnetic flux in the air gap, slot wedges made of magnetic materials are used. The reduction of the level of higher harmonics of current in the generator is ensured by forming the output voltage of the frequency converter using modulation with Pre-Calculate PWM. Analysis of calculation results showed that the use of slot wedges made of magnetic material with 20<μ<30 allows to reduce the power losses of the asynchro-nous high-speed generator by reducing the tooth pulsations of the magnetic field in the air gap by 8%. The use of modu-lation with preliminary calculation of switching moments (Pre-Calculate PWM) allows to reduce the level of higher har-monics of the current.
