This research demonstrates a strong positive correlation among lean, green, and reliability, suggesting enhanced productivity in industrial processes.
This study investigated the integrated application of lean manufacturing, green technology, and reliability theory to develop a comprehensive framework for sustainable mechanical process innovation. Conducted at Cebu Technological University–Pinamungajan Campus in partnership with industries across Cebu’s 3rd District, the research aimed to determine how industrial practices can simultaneously improve productivity, environmental performance, and operational reliability. Utilizing a descriptive-correlational design supported by a mixed-method approach, quantitative data were collected through structured surveys, while qualitative insights were obtained from interviews with academic and industry experts. Results indicated a very strong positive correlation among the lean, green, and reliability dimensions, suggesting that improvements in one domain substantially reinforce the others. Lean manufacturing enhanced efficiency and minimized waste, green technology encouraged energy optimization and pollution control, and reliability systems ensured consistent operations and equipment longevity. Collectively, these elements fostered higher productivity, lower resource utilization, and stronger environmental stewardship. Despite these benefits, challenges such as limited financial support, inadequate technical training, and organizational resistance to innovation were noted. To address these constraints, the study advocates for deeper academia–industry collaboration, compliance with international management standards such as ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, and the institutionalization of sustainability-driven policies. Overall, the proposed lean–green–reliability model serves as a strategic framework for advancing efficiency, innovation, and environmental responsibility within mechanical industries, ultimately contributing to sustainable industrial development and aligning with national and global sustainability goals.
