MPTP (1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine) produces moderate to severe parkinsonism in humans, but has not been reported to cause a syndrome similar to early Parkinson9s disease. We now report 22 cases of mild parkinsonism resulting from exposure to MPTP.
