Presentation reveals creativity tied to early onset bipolar disorder, highlighting manic expressions in a 13-year-old's blog.
This presentation explores creativity that occurs alongside, and as a result of, Early Onset Bipolar Disorder. It documents a blog made in 2006/2007 when the author was 13 years old, and experiencing their first episode of mania after being diagnosed with Early Onset Bipolar Disorder. The 2006/2007 blog is presented in screenshots, alongside commentary written in 2025. The blog shows the young author to be bright, and capable of creating intricate inner worlds; but it also displays manic word patterns; and "word salad" due to co-current psychosis. The blog includes some uses of language that is not ok, and never was ok. Now that the author knows better, these words have been removed from the text.
