Experiments indicate oxidation process yields high isolation and tolerates functional groups in primary alcohols, suggesting its potential in organic synthesis.
Oxidation of primary alcohols to produce the corresponding carboxylic acids is a fundamental reaction in organic synthesis. In this article, we report a process for the oxidation of primary alcohols using chemically modified electrodes. This is characterized as a green, mild, oxidant-free, and easy-to-operate process with high isolation yields and good functional group tolerance. A series of controlled experiments demonstrate the reaction mechanism.
