Research shows enhanced total glycoalkaloids extraction in Solanum procumbens, suggesting optimized purification methods may improve industrial applications.
This research aimed to enhance the extraction and purification of total glycoalkaloids from Solanum procumbens for the first time. Response Surface Methodology (RSM) was used to optimize ultrasound‐assisted extraction and purification. The extraction yield reached 294.36 ± 3.45 mg/100 g dried weight under optimal conditions. Moreover, this study also evaluated different macroporous resins for purification purposes. Of the 11 macroporous resins tested, D‐941 and HPR‐900 exhibited remarkable purification capabilities. Under optimal purification conditions, the extracts obtained using D‐941 and HPR‐900 contained 34.51% and 51.08% TGA, respectively. These values were significantly higher than those in the original extract, with 7.77 and 11.50‐fold increases, respectively. The presence of solasodine highlights the main constituent of S. procumbens. To enrich the biological library, the antioxidant, anti‐tyrosinase, and anti‐acetylcholine activities were evaluated, with all samples showing good antioxidant effects in ABTS and DPPH assays. These findings offer valuable insights into enhancing industrial‐scale processes for the extraction and purification of TGA from this species.
