Retrospective analysis shows earlier onset linked to lower smoking rates in hidradenitis suppurativa patients, indicating key metabolic risks.
This study investigates age-related differences in hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) among Asian patients and identifies a bimodal distribution of age at disease onset. Compared to early-onset HS, patients with late-onset HS showed a higher prevalence of smoking and metabolic comorbidities, shorter diagnostic delay, and less frequent axillary and nuchal involvement, while overall disease severity remained comparable.
