Case report reveals successful treatment of retained fetal tissue complication in midtrimester abortion, highlighting importance of detection.
A BSTRACT The term retained products of conception (RPOC) refers to remnants of fetal tissue retained within the uterine cavity after an abortion, spontaneous or induced. Retained bony fragments in the uterus, generally encountered after second trimester abortions, is a rare complication. This complication, if it escapes timely detection and treatment, can cause serious long-term morbidity. Here, we present one such rare case which was treated successfully with hysteroscopic assistance.
