Survey shows motivations for online courses vary by classification in undergraduates, suggesting tailored approaches for each group.
Although previous research has identified undergraduate student motivations for selecting online courses over face-to-face courses, this work tended to examine students as a single group. The current research presents survey results of business school students demonstrating that these motivations differ significantly by classification. Freshman select online courses primarily due to a belief that they are easier than face-to-face courses. Sophomores and juniors select online courses primarily because of available seating. Seniors select online courses largely because of their availability and their convenience.
