Observational analysis illustrates mycorrhizal interaction in Fraxinus Mandshurica roots, suggesting symbiotic fungi enhance nutrient exchange.
The semi-arid habitat promotes the development of conservative resource-acquisition traits in the fine roots of F. mandshurica and expands the spatial extent of root nutrient exchange. It also enhances the ability of fine roots to recruit symbiotic fungi and facilitates the extension of mycorrhizal fungal hyphae from absorptive roots to transport roots, thereby strengthening the response of roots and mycorrhizal fungi to adverse conditions.
