Analysis of demand response and integration strategies in energy systems indicates enhanced flexibility and optimization.
This report provides a methodological basis for the conceptualization, development and integration of optimization/control algorithms within the REACT project by analyzing different applicable aspects of energy systems. As such, this report is intended to be evaluated and consumed in conjunction with the other reports from WP5, especially D5.3 “Integrative energy dispatching optimization”, so that the entire picture of the integrated service pipeline of WP5 can be obtained. Concretely, this document will briefly review the introduction to demand response, previously presented in detail in reports from WP1, as the key load flexibility management method. This is followed by DR perspectives from islanders on the REACT pilot islands through assessment of social aspects depicted in WP4 data. Also, key aspects of load flexibility integration within an optimization methodology are outlined. Furthermore, it presents several approaches for energy flow optimization with different abstraction levels while also analyzing the applicability of the outputs of said optimization, evaluated using the REACT platform, on assets that are planned to be deployed within the project. Finally, the document outlines the deployment plan for the pilot sites and cross-correlates the applicable methodology with the envisioned control strategies.
