The press and fiction of the Great Patriotic War are sources for studying the perception of military events through press materials and literary works, and interaction with the media through mass communications. During the war, the Soviet periodical press system was transformed, and the central women’s magazines continued their activities in 1941–1945, which indicates the importance of the type of publications in a military situation. The purpose of the article is to examine the literary section of the magazine “Rabotnica” in the specified historical period, to identify its functional, thematic, typological characteristics, its connection with the general typological concept of the magazine model. The following research methods are used: historical, typological, and philological. The following conclusions were reached: the literary section of the magazine “Rabotnica” complemented the publication model, implemented informational, propaganda, and educational functions. The authors of literary works were both the authors of the magazine “Rabotnica”, as well as famous writers, poets, and journalists who participated in military operations; the combat experience of the authors contributed to recreating realism in describing military events, depicting historical actions through stories, and the feelings of individuals. The literary section reflected the publication’s connection with the official information policy of the state at the time, and the magazine’s audience: it published works that touched on the themes of patriotism, heroism, family, love, and loyalty.; The authors of poetic and prose works used propaganda techniques, which contributed to the formation of patriotic sentiments and behavioral patterns of the audience.
