A 5‐year‐old, male, neutered French bulldog was referred with a 24‐hour history of left hindlimb lameness. The patient presented with a 9/10 grade left pelvic limb lameness and pain on full extension of the left hip joint. Radiographs, computed tomography and ultrasound‐guided fine needle aspirates were performed, leading to a presumptive diagnosis of neoplasia with secondary pathological fracture. Hindlimb amputation was performed, and an aneurysmal bone cyst was diagnosed on histopathological examination. The patient made a good recovery, with a return to normal activity levels reported.
