“POR-8” (Sandoz), a synthetic vasopressin, has been used In place of adrenaline as a vasoconstrictor in surgery. The effects of Intravenous Infusion of this drug on systemic blood pressure, femoral, aortic and coronary blood flows, rate of rise of left ventricular pressure (dp/dt) and heart rate were studied in anaesthetized dogs. “POR-8” reduced femoral and aortic blood flow and increased blood pressure, but did not affect coronary blood flow or heart rate of atropinized animals.
