Case study reveals that team management affects organizational readiness for Industry 4.0, suggesting improvements in communication are necessary.
Objective: This study analyzes the influence of the subdimension “Communication in the Socio-Organizational Relationship” on the dimensions “Products and Services” and “Strategy and Organization,” aiming to understand the impact of communication management on organizational readiness for Industry 4.0. Theoretical Framework: The research is grounded in studies on team management, organizational communication, and digital transformation. The PIMM 4.0 model is used as a tool to measure digital maturity, considering empathetic leadership, collaborative culture, and digital values as strategic elements. Method: This is a case study with a quantitative approach, conducted in a specialty paper company located in the state of São Paulo, Brazil. Data were collected through the PIMM 4.0 platform, which evaluates three main dimensions: Products and Services, Strategy and Organization, and People and Culture. The subdimension “Communication in the Socio-Organizational Relationship” was analyzed as the dependent variable in relation to twelve independent subdimensions. Statistical analysis was performed using multiple linear regression in Microsoft Excel, with validation based on the normality of residuals and the quality of statistical adjustments. The sampling method was non-probabilistic and intentional, considering the relevance of the selected company to the Industry 4.0 context. As a limitation, the study focuses on a single organization, which restricts the generalization of results to other sectors. Results and Discussion: Although the overall model did not reach statistical significance, the subdimensions “Digital Values,” “Leadership Support,” and “Revenue Sources” showed practical influence on organizational communication. Residual analysis indicated a good fit, with some unexplained variations. Research Implications: The findings suggest that strengthening interdepartmental communication and leadership support can enhance digital maturity and technological readiness in organizations. Originality/Value: The study applies the PIMM 4.0 model in a rarely explored sector, offering a replicable and human-centered approach aligned with the principles of Industry 5.0.
