Intervention with HVNI and heated blankets improves temperature recovery in patients with accidental hypothermia, implying effective airway rewarming.
Patient rewarming with heated blanket system combined with adjunctive high velocity nasal insufflation (HVNI) achieved rapid rewarming (30°C to 34.9°C [86°F to 94.8°F] over 5 h) for a patient presenting with neurogenic hypothermia from cervical spinal cord injury. HVNI utilized total lung surface area as a high‐value target for temperature modulation with airway rewarming.
