eLearning module improves understanding of beverage preparation in dysphagia patients, suggesting enhanced nutritional care.
This study aimed to evaluate an eLearning module for the preparation of thickened beverages used in the nutritional care of patients with dysphagia. Student learners in dietetics were surveyed before and after viewing a short, concise instructional module regarding the basics of preparation. The results showed changes in learners’ understanding and beliefs about thickened beverages and aspects of preparation based on agreement ratings. Learners responded favorably to their perceived effectiveness of the module and the innovative aspects of instruction. Implications for health care personnel involved in the nutritional care of patients are also discussed.
