Histopathological examination of postoperative resected tissues was conducted.
MRI demonstrated 92.0% sensitivity and 80.0% specificity for diagnosing astrocytomas.
Positive predictive value was 96.0% and negative predictive value was 67.0%.
The overall accuracy of MRI for astrocytoma detection was 90.3%.

Abstract

Background: Accurate detection of astrocytomas is very difficult. Objective: The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the usefulness of MRI in detection of intracranial astrocytoma.
