Heart rate recovery (HRR) is an independent predictor of all-causemortality, with attenuated HRR associated with 68% higher mortality risk. Wehypothesize that ultra-short maximal sprints (2–3 seconds) followed by complete restprovide sufficient stimulus for training this autonomic switching mechanism, whileminimizing the psychological burden responsible for high dropout rates inconventional HIIT programs.
