In a scientific review, global studies on this issue, covering various nosological groups, were analyzed to determine the similarities and differences in oculomotor biomarkers of mental disorders: posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depressive disorder, bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), personality disorders, and schizophrenia. The analysis showed common features of oculomotor responses associated with impaired inhibitory control of attention processes and amygdala hyperactivity, most pronounced in patients with PTSD and GAD, as well as unique eye movement patterns for each disorder.
