Key Points

  • To assess the effectiveness of nerve stimulator-guided epidural anesthesia in a rhesus macaque during surgery.
  • Administered epidural anesthesia at the fourth lumbar vertebral level
  • Used a nerve stimulator-guided technique for precise placement
  • Conducted inguinal hernia repair under general anesthesia
  • Provided effective analgesia during surgery
  • Maintained stable hemodynamics in the macaque
  • Demonstrated potential as an objective alternative to traditional methods

Abstract

ABSTRACT A male rhesus macaque underwent inguinal hernia repair under general anesthesia, with epidural anesthesia administered at the fourth lumbar vertebral level using a nerve stimulator‐guided technique. This method provided effective analgesia and stable hemodynamics, supporting its potential as an objective alternative to landmark‐based approaches in nonhuman primates.
