Abstract Paediatric and congenital cardiology have entered an era of unprecedented complexity, where advances in diagnostic imaging, interventions, and long-term outcomes demand equally advanced and harmonised educational frameworks. Despite significant technological progress, education and training across Europe remain fragmented, heterogeneous, and insufficiently formalised. This editorial discusses the current educational landscape, focusing on cardiovascular imaging in congenital heart disease (CHD). It highlights the challenges of non-uniform curricula, inconsistent hands-on experience, and limited mentorship opportunities. Structured, harmonised educational pathways, supported by professional societies, are essential to ensure consistency, competence, and sustainable care for patients across their lifespan.
