The 19th International Saga Conference explores themes of otherness in sagas, religion, and mythology, highlighting current research trends.
The Saga Conference is the largest conference that is solely dedicated to Old Norse studies and takes place every three years. The 19th International Saga Conference took place from 3–8 August 2025, in Katowice and Kraków, and was organized by the Centre for Nordic and Old English Studies at the University of Silesia and the Department of Nordic Studies at Jagiellonian University. The theme of this year’s conference was »Sagas & Otherness«, which was addressed in four thematic strands covering Otherness in religion, myths, medievalism, and methodology. Roundtable discussions and small sessions broadened the scope and reflected the range of current research.
