The Master Plan for the Open Science Community Maastricht (OSCM) provides a strategic framework to guide the further development, positioning, and sustainability of the community within Maastricht University. Its purpose is to clarify why OSCM exists, what value it creates for different stakeholder groups, and how it can most effectively contribute to the implementation of Open Science in practice. The plan translates the ambitions of Open Science at UM into concrete community-oriented actions by outlining shared goals, priorities, and working principles. It supports OSCM in moving from an organically grown network to a more structured and resilient community, while preserving its bottom-up, inclusive character. By articulating clear value propositions, roles, and engagement strategies, the plan helps align the efforts of ambassadors, members, and institutional partners. In addition, the master plan serves as a coordination and communication tool. It provides a common reference point for decision-making, collaboration, and resource allocation, and helps position OSCM within the broader UM Open Science ecosystem. Ultimately, the plan aims to strengthen OSCM’s capacity to connect people, stimulate knowledge exchange, and empower researchers, support staff, and students to actively engage with Open Science practices across disciplines.
