Analysis reveals variations in basalt composition and sources in Eastern Sikhote-Alin, indicating volcanic evolution.
High-alumina basalts enriched in Ti, LREE, MREE, Hf, P, and Ta were effused in the Late Eocene – Early Oligocene in the Eastern Sikhote-Alin. In the Middle – Late (?) Oligocene they were replaced by high-alumina basalts depleted in REE, Hf, and Ta but enriched in Sc. Later, magnesian basalts depleted in incompatible elements were effused. Generation of primary magmas is associated with melting of the plume source, with the following three components being identified: 1) REE-rich spinel Iherzolite; 2) material of the subducted plate, including pelagic sediments; 3) P2O5-rich peridotite material.
