This analysis explores the structure of alkaline granites, highlighting their unique textures and implications for geological understanding.
Among zonally metamorphosed Riphean and Cambrian terrigenous sediments, areas of alkaline granites have been recognized and peculiarities of their structure considered. Great variations in structures and textures of alkaline granite-porphyries have been stated at relatively constant petrographic and petrochemical composition. This feature is supposed to be accounted for by crystallization of an overcooled melt enriched in volatiles within intensely cleaved metamorphic rocks.
