Correlational research shows that effective M&E enhances project success in Mogadishu, suggesting critical practices for project managers.
This study examined the Effect of Project Monitoring and Evaluation on the Project Success of the Upgrading Sinay Market Project in Mogadishu, Somalia. A correlational research design was adopted to assess the strength and direction of the relationship between M&E practices and project outcomes. The target population comprised 160 participants, including project authorities, beneficiaries, and staff, with a sample size of 114 determined using Slovin’s formula. Data analysis revealed a very strong positive and significant relationship (r = 0.839, p < 0.01) between M&E and project success, indicating that improvements in M&E practices significantly enhance project performance. The study concludes that effective M&E, including planning, training, baseline surveys, and information systems, is critical for both organizational learning and project performance. It is recommended that project managers integrate risk management and M&E as essential, ongoing project management tools to ensure efficiency, accountability, and successful project outcomes.
