Alpha oxygen M( iv )O 2+ (M = Fe, Co, Mn, Ni) stabilized in zeolites is highly reactive. It can selectively oxidize CH 4 to CH 3 OH at room temperature and can be prepared by splitting either N 2 O or O 2 over some transition metal exchanged zeolites.
