ABSTRACT In industrial catalysis, the selective oxidation of benzyl alcohol to benzaldehyde is an important reaction that demands high conversion and selectivity in environmentally friendly conditions. In the present study, we report the effective solvent‐free oxidation of benzyl alcohol employing copper nanoparticles supported on Zn/Al layered double hydroxide (CuNPs@LDH) as the catalyst and tert ‐butyl hydroperoxide (TBHP) as an oxidant. The nanocatalyst, which was developed through a simple chemical reduction process, demonstrated remarkable catalytic activity, with a 76.5% benzyl alcohol conversion and 94.6% benzaldehyde selectivity under optimal conditions. Furthermore, the nanocatalyst maintained its catalytic efficiency after six reuse cycles with negligible loss of catalytic activity and displayed excellent adaptability, catalyzing reactions with a variety of substrates. This study provides new insights into the catalytic properties of CuNPs@LDH and their potential uses in alcohol oxidation.
