ABSTRACT A strategy based on using HKUST‐1 as a template was employed to synthesize (PSt‐ co ‐PMA)/HKUST‐1 composites through in situ free radical polymerization. The composites could not only maintain the porosity of metal–organic frameworks(MOFs), but also remained stable in aqueous solution. The composites markedly outperformed the pristine HKUST‐1 in ammonia breakthrough adsorption experiments, achieving equilibrium capacities of 10.2 mmol g −1 under dry conditions and 7.49 mmol g −1 under 98% relative humidity(RH). Moreover, the copolymer‐modified composites demonstrated promising reusability, allowing for multiple adsorption–desorption without significant performance loss.
