Case report highlights central retinal vein occlusion in a pregnant woman, suggesting inflammation as a potential cause.
Central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO) is a vascular disorder of the retina that occurs with equal frequency in both men and women, most commonly affecting individuals older than 65 years. When CRVO appears in younger patients, it is often associated with an underlying inflammatory cause. We report a case of young pregnant female with CRVO, who had no underlying risk factors like systemic diseases and had normal laboratory tests. Virchow’s triad associated with pregnancy could be the possible cause of CRVO.
