Archaeological monitoring and recording was undertaken by AC archaeology between August 2025 and July 2025 during groundworks associated with the construction of the Tamar Valley Crematorium, Roborough, Devon. The monitored groundworks comprised foundation and service trenches. The excavation of the service trenches exposed sections through two historic leat channels; The Warleigh Leat and the Devonport Leat. The Warleigh Leat is first depicted on a late 18th-century plan and branches from the late 16th century Plymouth or Drakes Leat to the east. This was exposed on the site as a simple earth cut channel backfilled with stone rubble. The Devonport, constructed between 1795 and 1802 to provide water to Devonport Dock, was in this location constructed from granite block walls set on a concrete base.
