Abstract

Abstract: The integration of health promotion and community engagement has gained increasing recognition for its potential to enhance public health outcomes. Community physiotherapy has emerged as a vital approach to reduce morbidity and empower populations by improving access to services and fostering self-management of health conditions. This review synthesizes existing literature on the role of community physiotherapy in promoting health, highlighting its capacity to address non-communicable diseases, enhance physical and psychological well-being, and foster social cohesion. Evidence indicates that tailored physiotherapy programs in community settings can lead to decreased hospital admissions, improved mobility, and increased health literacy, especially among vulnerable groups. Moreover, community physiotherapy facilitates active participation, promoting autonomy and empowerment, which are crucial for sustainable health improvements. The literature also underscores the role of community physiotherapy in bridging gaps between healthcare providers and populations, contributing to more equitable health outcomes. However, significant gaps remain, including the predominance of quantitative studies that overlook subjective experiences and the limited research in rural or underserved communities. Additionally, there is a need for longitudinal studies to assess the long-term impacts and sustainability of these interventions. Future research should adopt mixed-methods approaches and consider contextual factors to optimize program effectiveness across diverse settings. Overall, community physiotherapy offers a promising strategy to reduce morbidity while fostering individual and community empowerment. Policymakers and practitioners are encouraged to integrate these insights into health systems, ensuring that community physiotherapy remains a cornerstone of sustainable public health initiatives aimed at improving population well-being.
