National cloud-seeding operation improved rainfall in several areas, suggesting effective management of water resources.
The 1974-75 Cloud-Seeding Operation was carried out as an improved version of the previous year’s programme, which was the first national cloud-seeding operation to be properly planned in advance. The rainy season turned out to be another good one, so that it was not necessary to use the full potential of flying hours and cartridge stocks. Nevertheless, there were serious rainfall deficiencies in some areas, notably northern Mashonaland during the growing season, which therefore derived benefit from a cloud-seeding facility which was a going concern.
