Archaeological watching brief observed no features or artefacts during excavation of a garden house in Oswestry, suggesting site is sterile.
Wessex Archaeology carried out a watching brief on the excavation of foundations for a garden house at 40 Laburnum Drive, Oswestry. All deposits were recorded using Wessex Archaeology pro-forma records, photos were taken using a camera of at least 10 megapixels, and locations were surveyed in by triangulation from structures that could be tied into mapping. No archaeological features, structures or deposits were observed during the watching brief. No environmental samples were taken, and no artefacts were recovered, with the only material observed being modern and largely comprising masonry fragments and plastic and metal objects lying within the topsoil. Therefore, this site conforms to the definition of a sterile project.
