Meta-synthesis reveals insights into grief and grieving process linked to voluntary assisted dying, suggesting new perspectives.
Historically, grief and grieving process based on on the Kubler-Ross model have been described as including denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. Voluntary assisted dying (VAD) may present a unique form of death wherein both how and when the death will occur remain well-known. This unique nature of VAD may have some implications regarding the experience of grief and the grieving process. This meta-synthesis will employ a grounded formal theory approach to develop novel insights into grief and grieving process in the context of VAD.
