Key Points

  • This research aims to compare occupational well-being between cochlear implant users and those with hearing loss or typical hearing.
  • Compared well-being across different hearing groups
  • Assessed coping strategies and health adjustments
  • Evaluated workplace adjustments among participants
  • Cochlear implant users exhibit higher occupational well-being levels
  • CI users are more advanced in accepting their hearing loss
  • CI users use verbal coping strategies more effectively
  • CI users report better health compared to non-CI individuals with hearing loss

Abstract

Overall, CI users show occupational well-being and capabilities comparable to those of other groups. However, CI users appear to be more advanced in their progress towards acceptance of their HL, use of verbal coping strategies, are better adjusted at work, and report better health than individuals with HL without a CI.
