Examines toxicity in technogenically disturbed territories using phytotesting, implying significant environmental impacts.
The ammonia method of soda ash production generates environmentally harmful distillery liquid, consisting of solid and liquid phases. Traditional separation methods using sludge collectors are becoming inadequate due to high volumes of soda sludge. This study employs phytotesting with watercress to assess the toxicity of both distiller liquid and solid mineralized phase. Results indicate acute toxicity in both phases, with seedling length being the most sensitive parameter. Interestingly, highly diluted distiller liquid (16x) and mineral product (128x) showed stimulating effects on seedling viability. This versatile approach provides valuable insights into the environmental impact of soda ash production waste.
