Investigation reveals ozone variations and correlations with temperature and wind at Aspendale, implying important atmospheric dynamics.
An investigation is made of the relation between the vertically integrated ozone content of the atmosphere as measured by a Dobson spectrophotometer and ozone-sonde measurements at Aspendale, Victoria. The correlation coefficients between the partial ozone content, total ozone, and other parameters are examined. It is found that, at Aspendale, most of the short term variation in total ozone occur s below 50 mb, whilst correlations established between ozone, temperature and poleward wind throw some additional light on previous discussions of the general circulation utilising ozone data.
