The article examines certain issues related to the criminal policy of the Russian Federation concerning the protection of cultural heritage. It describes the current level of legal reality in the area of criminal law protection of cultural heritage sites and emphasizes the importance of studying this issue. The author outlines the prospects for developing law enforcement mechanisms, taking into account global trends that influence the criminal policy of domestic legislation. Attention is given to the analysis of the formation of the modern global legal system, characterized by a criminal policy aimed at developing legislation for the preservation of cultural heritage and the creation of new legal forms. Depending on the historical and cultural development of the state, a specific trend in the formation of criminal law phenomena can be traced. It is argued that at the national level, integrating international norms in the field of cultural heritage protection is permissible when forming legislation through criminal policy. Theoretical methods include analysis – considering individual aspects, properties, and components of criminal policy; and induction – drawing conclusions based on specific examples regarding the trends of criminal policy in the Russian Federation. The analysis conducted in this work showed that Russia's criminal policy holds prospects for forming an effective law enforcement mechanism in the field of cultural heritage protection. By examining certain aspects related to the role of the criminal policy of our state, it becomes evident that the development of goals and objectives, as well as the formulation of means and methods to combat crime, should be carried out continuously, considering current global events. By studying and developing the topic of cultural heritage preservation, we contribute to the doctrinal richness of the scientific material that lawmakers can use in the process of creating a relevant law enforcement mechanism. Historical and cultural heritage constitutes the collective culture of humanity, the preservation of which ensures an unbreakable spiritual connection between generations and serves as a repository of historical memory necessary for the sustainable development of all social institutions. Studying this issue is essential for strengthening the foundation of a civilized society and for shaping the future of the country. Following today's trends in Russia's criminal policy makes it clear that in the process of the evolution of the state and law, the perception of one's own culture by individuals and the understanding of the continuity of past generations remain significant.
