Areal and profile surveys reveal the structure of Earth's crust, indicating geological heterogeneities in the upper mantle.
Based on the data on areal and profile surveys, the relief of reference seismic boundaries and regularities of Poisson’s coefficient distribution have been investigated. It is shown that specific features of the consolidated Earth’s crust structure are due to structural-compositional heterogeneities of the upper mantle. Seismic anomalies were shown to die out toward the day surface, their distribution correlating with kimberlite field locations.
