Direct experiments demonstrate CO synthesis and aluminosilicate transformation in nitrogen atmosphere, suggesting implications for material production.
Direct experiments have shown that N2 accumulates in aluminosilicate melt under carbothermal reduction of the aluminosilicate material in the nitrogen atmosphere. It has been found that when T ≤ 1623 K, a mixture of β-Si3N4 and β′-sialon with z ≈ 3.5 forms, while at higher temperatures, β′-sialon appears with z < 1. The processes of CO synthesis by carbothermal reduction of the aluminosilicate material in the nitrogen atmosphere were shown to proceed in the same way at temperatures from 1573 to 1723 K. An explanation of geometry of the kinetic curves for CO synthesis performed by carbothermal reduction of the aluminosilicate material in the nitrogen atmosphere is proposed.
