Key Points

  • The research aims to explore the factors influencing overall comfort in aircraft cabins using a structured measurement model.
  • Developed a weighted multi-level measurement model to establish hierarchical relationships between comfort factors.
  • Constructed a hybrid path analysis model to evaluate the relationships and impacts of these factors on overall comfort.
  • Conducted multigroup analyses to assess the validity and stability of the findings.
  • Service experience is identified as having the greatest impact on overall comfort.
  • Food and beverage service is the most influential factor within service experience.
  • Both service experience and physical environment significantly affect passenger perceptions of cabin facilities.

Abstract

To explore the relationships among factors influencing overall comfort in aircraft cabins, a scale-based method was developed. First, a weighted multi-level measurement model was used to determine the hierarchical relationships between comfort factors. Second, a hybrid path analysis model was constructed to analyze the relationships between comfort factors and their impact on overall comfort. Finally, the validity and stability of the results were evaluated using multigroup analyses. The results show that service experience has the greatest impact on overall comfort, with food and beverage being the most influential. Additionally, both service experience and the physical environment affect passengers’ perception of cabin facilities. This study identifies key factors for optimizing overall comfort. Furthermore, the methods used are applicable for analyzing overall comfort in public transportation systems in general.
