Lecture explores disrupting power structures in North America, aiming for social equality through allyship.
This Ansbacher Lecture explores vertical worldviews that support the systems of power and privilege that permeate North American society (Canada and the US) and all its institutions. Disrupting these vertical worldviews provides us with a vision for a just and democratic society, as well as a move toward allyship and social equality through a commitment to social interest. I begin this lecture with my cultural biography, followed by a diversity fable and discussion of disrupting vertical worldviews and the necessity for transformative allyship in pursuit of social interest. I end with a story about my daughter.
