The paper argues that equations merely describe reality in physics, not create it, suggesting a reevaluation of foundational theories.
Modern theoretical physics routinely treats mathematical outputs as physical predictions. Equations that produce singularities are taken as evidence that singularities exist. Equations that require additional dimensions are taken as evidence that those dimensions exist. Equations that predict unobservable entities—dark energy, wormholes, wave function collapse—are treated as discoveries rather than artifacts. This paper argues that mathematics and time are strictly descriptive tools. Mathematics describes observed relationships between physical quantities. Time measures the interval between physical events. Neither generates, causes, or creates any physical phenomenon. Geometry does not produce effects; it describes the mechanical processes that produce them. Confusing description for creation is the foundational epistemological error of post-Newtonian theoretical physics, and it has led the field to mistake internally consistent fantasy for externally verifiable science.
