Research examines dynamic stability in functionally graded annular plates, suggesting enhanced design for prefabricated construction applications.
The current research examines the piezomagnetic dynamic stability of an eccentric multi-dimensional functionally graded rotary annular plate, which combines a surface-bonded piezoelectric patch dedicated to advanced prefabricated construction applications in electromechanical systems. The annular structure has been modeled as a functionally graded composite with continuously varying material properties through the thickness direction to enhance mechanical performance and stability. The researchers used refined shear deformation theory (RSDT) to analyze transverse shear deformation because this method does not need shear correction factors. The governing equations of motion and compatibility conditions have been derived by incorporating nonlinear strain–displacement relationships based on von Kármán assumptions, while the coupled magnetic–electric and inertial effects induced by angular velocity have been rigorously included. The system's complete nonlinear dynamic equations, which Hamilton's principle describes, describe the system operating under simultaneous magnetic and electric field effects. The transform differential quadrature method (TDQM) together with Newton's method has been used to solve the resulting nonlinear differential equations. The researchers performed extensive parametric studies to identify how material gradation, nonlocal parameters, strain gradient parameters, and angular velocity, eccentricity, and magnetic-electric fields all affect the dynamic stability of the plate. The results showed that geometrical effects and multiphysics coupling define stability boundaries that engineers use to design and control smart annular structures found in prefabricated construction and engineering applications.
