Introduction: Reading Cultures

The introduction explains the concept of a reading culture and briefly describes three relatively new approaches that provide paradigms for investigating the topic: bibliotherapy, book history, and cultural studies. The contents, ordering, and connections among the nine articles in the issue are explored in course.
